The colourful Lajkonik – a great fun not only for children

The Lajkonik is a bearded man who is dresses in a special pointed hat and traditional Mongolian clothes. He rides a white wooden horse. Every summer the Lajkonik appears in the Main Market of the Cracow’s Old Town. The tradition of the Lajkonik comes from the days when Tartar hordes attacked Poland.

Every June there is a Lajkonik Parade which commemorates the day when the inhabitants of Cracow repelled a Tartar assault. The Lajkonik rides through the Old Town, to the clock tower and on his way he raps people with his mace and takes ransoms from the shopkeepers.

Restaurants that view

Restaurants which offer a panoramic view are definitely bound to be successful. Krakow, being a city with many variously located touristic spots, has a quite diverse choice of such places.

Panorama means success

Not only a carefully selected menu or  a pleasant atmosphere decide of a success of a restaurant. But also, if the place is perfectly located - if it, instead of concrete walls, has a huge transparent windows or a balcony with a perfect view stretching over most visited places or the city centre itself? It will be surely as twice successful!

A restaurant, a hotel and an academy

In Krakow, there are few restaurants that have a panoramic view. Each of them is quite unique.

After a ten-minute walk from the city centre, you will reach the ‘Panorama’ Restaurant which is a perfect place for one course meal (prices are quite reasonable) but also for a bigger party. It’s furnished in a modern, fashionable manner, with hanging lights on one of the glass walls. Apart from wining and dining, you can also have a nice party in a club with best DJs in Krakow. The balcony has over two hundred seats and from there you will be able to view whole Wawel and Wisla.

The ‘Poleski’ Hotel in Sandomierska Street, located just by the Wisla’s bank, has a magnificent restaurant with a separate Panoramic Room and Observation Deck. Apart from admiring the whole panorama of Wawel, you will be able to taste the exquisite Polish and European cuisine and, if you are interested in night parties, you won’t be disappointed either!

At this point also the Academy of Music in Krakow located in Sw. Tomasza Street is worth mentioning as its remarkable restaurant, placed in a building where the pure art is studied, offers as well panoramic view of the Krakow’s city centre.
